Are you thinking about taking a road trip in the UK?, looking for scenic long roads that lead to beautiful destinations? 

Don’t worry we have you covered. We have put together some of the best places to visit and best roads to drive on for your tour de UK.



Do you like the sound of route 66 but not having to go to America to do it? Well Scotland boasts its very own version of the famous roads. Showing of the country's beautiful landscape, highlands, beaches, historical landmarks and castles!

The trip is advised to take 5-7 days for you to really enjoy and appreciate everything that you will want to stop, see and visit. There are many towns and even campsites that you will pass through to provide you with accommodation needed, remember to book in advance to make sure you're fully prepared.

This beautiful route starts and finishes in the same place, Inverness Castle, then leading to some picturesque towns like Ullipool, Tollindon and Dornoch. With a distance of roughly 516 miles in 7 days you will be seeing some of the UK’s most beautiful spots leading all along the coast and more.

Things to do on the way? 

- Castles Ardvreck and Dunrobin

- Beaches such as Brims ness, Am Buachaille and Balnakeil (each giving scenic views, water sports opportunity and seclusion) Chanonry point 

- Black Isle (Boasting a Dolphin population that you may get a chance of seeing) 

- Caves (Smoo cave - Ancient geology within north Scotland, beautiful surroundings and in-cave waterfalls)

Lake District

Everyone knows the Lake District is a beautiful place with a relaxing pace of life, perfect for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle, unwind and chill. Most will recognise the location for its famous log cabins and camping but to truly enjoy everything that this area has to offer take the 3 day road trip which will show you the best roads places and of course lakes.

Starting in Kendall and ultimately heading into the heart of the lake district you will end up in Windermere which is home to the UK’s largest lake. On this trip you will come across beautiful towns, scenic surroundings on quiet and tranquil roads, trails for the adventurous type and all around nature. From Windermere you will head to Ambleside and Grasmere which will offer lakes and activities, you can hire boats and participate in water sports before unwinding in a local restaurant or bar.

- Mountain Walks (Scafell Pike and more) 

- Lakes (Windermere, Tarn Hows, Aira Force and more)

- Star Gazing (the lake district is one of the darkest places in the UK at night without the pollution of street lamps or the city you can really appreciate the stars)

Snowdonia Wales

Looking for a road trip and adventure that you can fit into one day? Well snowdonia is an ideal spot for you. With a 39 mile drive taking around 1.5 hours this route gives some beautiful scenic views, places to stop for photos, food and drink all along the way.


Snowdonia is home to some amazing wildlife, you can take some of the shorter trails to see the amazing sights the mountain area has to offer or you can really get your walking boots on and climb Mount Snowdon, it may take a few days but it will be well worth the view once you reach the top!

Starting in the town of Llandudno which is as beautiful as it is peaceful, from here you will visit conway through to Bangor which are just as equally as beautiful filled with history and attractions.

 Need a break? You then head over to Anglesey beach, take a picnic and relax before heading back on the road.Heading towards Mount Snowden you can give the trails a walk or take the train! The train will take you up the mountain passing some of the most amazing views, once you reach the top you will reach the highest point in wales!

- Visit Conwy CastleExplore Bangor Castle and the city 

- Visit Portmeirion and the central piazza 

- Walk the trails and hikes that are throughout all of the trip 

- Climb Mount Snowden

Snake Pass

The Snake Pass is located in Derbyshire you start in the town Glossop, here you make your way through the town which has pubs, restaurants everything you will need to fuel yourself for the drive ahead.


Once you head up to the snake pass you will have the option to go to the pennines or Ladybower lake which is beautiful to walk around and has a pub/ restaurant located within walking distance giving home cooked food with a friendly atmosphere which you can enjoy next to the fire.

The drive takes around about 1.25 hours and can be a full day out depending on how many stops you wish to take, the road leads to Sheffield or Manchester. Heading into Sheffield is a great way to end the day, a city full of all attractions from bars, restaurants and more.

- Walk the lake at Ladybower 

- Take advantage of all the trails and hikes hidden within the Snake PassStop off at pubs and restaurants along the way

Cornwall - The Atlantic Highway


Driving along the coast between Devon and Cornwall you will be delighted to know that this one is great for you surfers out there. With a huge option of surfing spots along the way especially the town of Bude, the road does lead inland at a point but will still give you some of the best roads and views in England.

The day which can last up to 4-5 days depending on how many stays you wish to take, starting in barnstaple and finishing your trip in Landsend Cornwall you will pass through towns Bude, Padstow and Newquay. Offering you everything from beautiful beaches, scenic views and plenty of places to stop off to grab a bite to eat and explore the historical and vibrant towns.

Things to do on the way?? 

- Surfing in the town of Bude 

- Lighthouse visit at travous head near Padstow 

- Visit Cliff top castle at Tintagel 

- Take advantage of the small and quaint villages along the way enjoying the peaceful and local cafes.
